This Privacy Policy describes how ExpenseInk (“the App”), developed by Raghov Apps, collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use our personal expense tracking application on Android devices.
By using ExpenseInk, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Summary
- ExpenseInk is a personal finance app for tracking income and expenses.
- Your data is stored primarily on your device in a local database.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.
- We do not operate our own cloud servers to store your account or transaction data.
- Optional features (Google Drive backup and Excel export) are initiated by you.
2. Information We Collect
When you create an account and use the App, the following information may be collected and stored:
2.1 Account information
- Name — display name you provide during sign-up.
- Email address — used for login, account identification, and password reset.
- Password — stored only as a salted cryptographic hash (SHA-256). We do not store your plain-text password.
2.2 Financial and transaction data
- Transaction amounts, types (income or expense), categories, dates, and optional descriptions.
- Summary totals derived from your transactions (for example, balance, income, and expense summaries).
2.3 App preferences
- Selected language and currency preferences.
- Reminder notification settings (on/off and scheduled reminder time).
- Login session state stored locally so you remain signed in between app launches.
2.4 Device and technical information
- Device time zone — used to schedule local reminder notifications at the correct local time.
- Local app storage — database files and exported reports saved on your device.
- Notification permission status — to determine whether reminders can be shown.
ExpenseInk does not collect precise location, contacts, photos, camera data, microphone recordings, phone numbers (unless you voluntarily enter one in a profile field), advertising identifiers, or browsing history.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above to:
- Create and manage your local user account.
- Authenticate you when you sign in.
- Store, display, and organize your income and expense records.
- Generate dashboards, statistics, and transaction lists.
- Apply your language and currency settings.
- Send optional daily reminder notifications if you enable them.
- Export your transaction data to an Excel file on your device when you request it.
- Back up or restore your local database to your Google Drive account when you choose to use that feature.
4. Where Your Data Is Stored
- On your device: Account details, transactions, and app settings are stored in a local SQLite database on your phone or tablet.
- Local preferences: Session and lightweight app settings may be stored using Android SharedPreferences on your device.
- Downloads folder: If you use Export, an Excel (.xlsx) file is saved to your device storage (for example, the Downloads folder on Android).
- Google Drive (optional): If you use backup or restore, a copy of your local database file may be uploaded to or downloaded from your own Google Drive account.
Raghov Apps does not receive or store your personal data on company-owned servers as part of normal App operation.
5. Optional Third-Party Services
5.1 Google Sign-In and Google Drive
If you choose to back up or restore your data, the App uses Google Sign-In to access your
Google account and Google Drive API to upload or download a database backup file
(expense_ink.db) to your Drive storage.
Google’s handling of your data is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy. We only request access needed to create or read the backup file you authorize.
5.2 No advertising or analytics
ExpenseInk does not integrate advertising networks, crash reporting services, or third-party analytics tools that track your activity across apps or websites.
6. Permissions the App May Request
Depending on your device and the features you use, the App may request:
- Internet — for optional Google Drive backup/restore.
- Notifications — to show optional daily expense reminder alerts.
- Storage / Downloads — to save exported Excel reports on older Android versions.
- Exact alarms / boot completed / wake lock — to schedule and restore local reminder notifications reliably.
- Vibrate — for notification alerts if supported by your device settings.
You can deny or revoke permissions in your device settings, though some features may not work without them.
7. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
Your information may be shared only in these limited situations:
- With you: when you export data or back up to your own Google Drive.
- With Google: when you explicitly use Google Sign-In / Google Drive backup or restore.
- Legal requirements: if required by applicable law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable government request.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
- Your data remains on your device until you delete transactions, log out, reset the App data, or uninstall the App.
- Logging out clears your local session information from the device.
- Uninstalling the App removes the local database from your device unless you have separately backed it up (for example, to Google Drive or an exported file).
- Files you export or back up remain in the location you chose (Downloads, Google Drive, etc.) until you delete them.
9. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including:
- Hashing passwords with a unique salt before storage.
- Keeping financial records in a local on-device database.
- Not transmitting your routine transaction data to Raghov Apps servers.
No method of electronic storage is 100% secure. You are responsible for keeping your device and account credentials secure.
10. Children’s Privacy
ExpenseInk is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can assist with removal from the device.
11. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information. Within the App, you can:
- View and manage your transactions.
- Update language and currency preferences in Profile.
- Turn reminder notifications on or off.
- Export your data to Excel.
- Log out or uninstall the App to remove local data from your device.
12. International Users
ExpenseInk stores data locally on your device. If you use Google Drive backup, your backup file may be stored according to Google’s data handling and regional policies.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes become effective means you accept the updated policy.
